The subscription
What exactly comes in each letter? +
Every issue contains five things: a curated travel itinerary for the destination, a signature recipe card, a cocktail recipe card, a page from the journal written in first person from someone who was actually there, and a local keepsake — a postcard, stamp, or small artifact from the destination. Everything is printed on premium eggshell stationery.
How long is the itinerary? +
It varies by destination. Some places reward a longer, slower visit — others are better explored intensively over a few days. Every itinerary is written to be the right length for that specific destination, not to hit an arbitrary number of days.
What does "a page from the journal" mean? +
Every destination is researched and experienced in person. During the trip, a daily journal is kept — what happened, where we went, what surprised us, what it felt like to be there. Each subscriber receives one day from that journal, chosen at random. Because no two subscribers receive the same day, every letter is unique.
What is the local keepsake? +
Something physical from the destination — a postcard, a stamp, a small artifact the place is known for. It varies by location and is kept secret until the envelope arrives. That's intentional — part of the experience is not knowing until you open it.
How often does a new destination arrive? +
Once a month. Issues ship in the first week of each month. Seven days before shipping, subscribers receive a destination reveal email — enough to build anticipation, not enough to spoil the envelope.
Can I cancel any time? +
Yes. The monthly Explorer subscription can be cancelled, paused, or skipped at any time through your subscriber portal. There are no cancellation fees and no minimum commitment. If you cancel before the next billing date, you won't be charged for the following month.
Shipping & delivery
Where do you ship? +
Worldwide. Domestic US shipping is included in the subscription price. International shipping is charged at a flat rate of $6 per issue.
When will my first letter arrive? +
Issues ship in the first week of each month. If you subscribe after the current issue has shipped, your first letter will be the following month's issue. US subscribers typically receive their letter within 3–5 business days of shipping. International subscribers within 10–18 business days.
Will I receive a tracking number? +
You'll receive a shipping notification email when your issue is sent. Standard letter post does not include individual tracking, but if your issue doesn't arrive within the expected window please contact us at hello@thepassportletters.com and we'll sort it out.
What if my letter gets lost or damaged? +
Email us at hello@thepassportletters.com and we'll send a replacement. We keep copies of every issue for exactly this reason.
Gift subscriptions
How does the 12-month gift subscription work? +
You pay $120 once — no recurring charges, no auto-renewal. Your recipient receives twelve monthly issues over the course of a year. You enter their shipping address at checkout and we handle the rest. A printable gift card is emailed to you immediately after purchase so you can present it in person.
Can I choose when the gift starts? +
Yes. At checkout you can specify a preferred start date. If you're giving the gift for a birthday or anniversary, you can time it so the first letter arrives around that date. Email us at hello@thepassportletters.com after purchasing and we'll confirm the start date.
What happens when the gift subscription ends? +
About 30 days before the final issue, the recipient will receive an email with the option to continue as a monthly subscriber at $12/month. There's no obligation and no automatic charge — it's entirely their choice. If they love it, we make it easy to keep going.
Can I send the gift to an address outside the US? +
Yes. International gift subscriptions ship worldwide. A flat international shipping rate of $6 per issue applies, bringing the total to $192 for a 12-month international gift subscription. This is calculated at checkout.
Destinations & content
How are destinations chosen? +
Every destination is chosen because it rewards the curious traveller with something the tourist trail misses. We look for cities and regions that have a distinct character, a strong food and drink culture, and enough hidden depth to fill an issue worth keeping. We don't repeat destinations.
Is every destination visited in person? +
Yes. Every issue begins with a trip. The itinerary, the journal, the keepsake — all of it comes from actually being there. We don't write about places we haven't visited. That's the entire point.
Can I suggest a destination? +
We'd love to hear it. Email your suggestion to hello@thepassportletters.com. We read every one, and subscriber suggestions have already shaped our destination list.
